CURRENT PROJECTS
What We’re Growing Now
At Temple of the Forgotten, our current work centers around expanding access to spiritual care for the unhoused, while building the legitimacy, support, and education necessary to grow this vital field. These projects support both community members and spiritual care providers, offering hands-on training, advocacy, and education.
Sacred Encounters Research Initiative 2026-2028
Over two years, our new ethnographic research initiative, we will build an evidence base, convene a national community of practice, and develop training and advocacy tools that make interfaith spiritual care both visible and viable within our social services system.

Community Workshops
Our workshops (online and in person) help volunteers, outreach workers, lay members, and spiritual leaders build the skills to offer informed spiritual care, to develop ministries for their unhoused neighbors, and to learn more about the presence of addiction in homelessness.

Addiction & Recovery Spirituality Groups
Rev. Charlotte has developed several spiritually based group programs designed to support people in recovery. Her approach is unconventional, focusing on each individual’s search for meaning, will to live, resilience, and inner peace.

Public Education & Advocacy
Rev. Charlotte speaks across communities to raise awareness about spiritual homelessness. From classrooms to podcasts and webinars, to congregations and community spaces, she shares why soul-level care is essential for healing and lasting change.
Spirituality for Survivors of Homelessness
This program is designed for individuals who have experienced homelessness in their past and are interested in exploring spirituality as a way to find healing and transformation in their lives. This is a trauma-informed offering that meets people where they are—emotionally, spiritually, and existentially.

Spiritual Care for the Unhoused Online Series
These workshops train volunteers, service providers, hospital staff, and others to use the tools of spiritual care to deepen their relationships, build capacity, and increase effectiveness in their work with unhoused and marginalized individuals.

Grief Support for Homeless Youth
Temple of the Forgotten is currently developing a grief support protocol for a local nonprofit in the Portland area serving homeless youth. Our hope is to support organizations in navigating grief in both staff and clients.

Community Building
Temple of the Forgotten is committed to building community and conversation amongst street chaplains across the United States, and congregations in the Portland area. Our hope is to carry a conversation that centers the power of spirituality and religiousness to create radical change in the country we live in.
